Finally, the reading and note taking from the novel is complete. As I've still to discuss where this transcription could go, I've condensed my notes down to 3 areas; Characters, Environments, and specific scenes.
Initially my aim was to create a 3D 'source book' of selected characters, props, environments etc. I've now got a couple more ideas, one of which I'd really like to develop, that is if it is deemed viable. I'm currently looking at sources of inspiration, before I can get my head down in developmental work and pre-production. I'm looking at artwork from Alan Lee for all round concepts, I'm also looking for other artists to influence my design all round. I want a real 'epic' sense to my environments, so I'm looking at artist such as Albert Bierstadt and Frederick Church. At the moment I am keeping my focus on fine art painters, in particular mainly renaissance, romanticist and rococo artist, rather than any fantasy concept artist. I want to draw my own concept art influences by fine art painters, taking note of their compositions, textures, lighting styles etc and incorporate it into the unique style i'm hoping to create for 'Dark Moon'. Info on these and how I find them influential will be up over the next couple of days, along with some initial character sketches and thumbnails.
